Guidelines and conditions for papers to be included in the ALRS

[1] By submitting a document for inclusion in ALRS, each author is stating that there is no impediment to the republication of that document in the ALRS because of copyright law or any contractual or other conditions restricting republication. If you have any doubt about this, please check with the ALTA Secretariat.

[2] The following types of content are requested (subject to [3]):

• Conference papers or formal lectures/other presentations;
• Book chapters;
• Reports (not Annual) and Working Papers which Centres are publishing in hard copy;
• Articles accepted for publication in Journals (refereed or not) ('pre-prints');
• Articles already published;
• Submissions to law reform bodies, Parliaments etc (provided they can be reasonably understood 'stand alone' without having a Bill or Report by your side, and read like a coherent narrative). They should also have a 'journal-article-like' title, even if it added retrospectively (ie not 'Submission to XXX on the YYY Bill', but something more informative.)

[3] The following items (in any of the above categories) are not recommended for re-publication in the ALRS:

• Items less than 3 A4 pages (a de minimis test);
• Sets of PowerPoints, no matter what they are accompanied by;
• Papers which consist substantially of lists of bullet points rather than fully-expressed arguments;
• Papers which describe some legal content (eg new legislation) without analysing it to any significant extent.
